Are You Ready to Turn "Your House" to
"That House" on the Street?

What To Know

Q: What type of gas do I need for a gas lamp?
A: Our open flame gas lamps can be fueled by natural gas only. Our mantle gas lamps can be fueled by natural gas or liquid propane. It is recommended that all gas lamps burn 24/7. Please specify if you’re using natural gas or liquid propane when ordering.

Q: What type of lamps do you offer?
A:All American Gas Lamp Works lamp models are available for use with natural gas or electric. They can be configured in post-, pier-, and wall-mount configurations. We offer residential, midsize, and estate-sized lamps with several customizable options,
including decorative glass, finials, and finishes.

Q: How do I turn my gas lamp on and off?
A: All of AGLW’s gas lamps include a manual ignition valve in the collar of the fixture. The gas flow can be manually controlled at this point with a flathead tool (like a screwdriver). To turn the gas on, simply open the valve with a quarter turn of your tool,
follow the lighting instructions for your type of burner, and ignite it with a long lighter. To turn the gas off, simply close the valve with a quarter turn of your tool in the opposite direction.

Q: How much does a gas lamp cost to operate?
A: In continuous use, an American Gas Lamp Works open flame gas lamp costs approx. $10-15 per month to operate 24/7. Exact cost will depend on the cost of gas in your area, as well as the size flame you choose to display inside your lamp.

Q: Who should I contact to install my gas lamp?
A: We recommend coordinating installation and service of gas lamps and lines with trained professional personnel. Your local plumber, professional gas lighting specialist, or HVAC provider should be able to assist you with installation of a gas lamp. Professional gas specialists can often be found at retail stores that offer gas products. For example, a hearth & grill, fireplace, or pool & patio shop that offers gas grills, gas fireplaces, gas logs, gas torches, etc. Often times, these locations will have a service department with certified or experienced gas specialists who you may schedule an installation or service appointment with for your gas lamp.

Q: Can you help me choose a lamp that’s the right size and style for my project?
A: Absolutely! Please email any photos, videos and details of your project to us at sales@americangaslamp.com and our design team will be happy to recommend a size and style for you.

Q: Do you make custom lamps?
A: While our products are customizable, we do not offer completely custom services.

Q: Do you have a showroom?
A: All of our products are customizable, available in hundreds of different unique configurations. Therefore, most of our fixtures are not on display in a showroom. However, we invite you to browse our collection of photos and videos in the Galleries section of our website!

Q: Where do you ship to? And from?
A: We arrange ground shipments within the United States and Canada. And our products proudly ship from just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The anxiety can build when creating a perfect custom piece that suits your style and your budget. But never fear, we’re here to help! With just a few simple steps, you can better assess the right combination of choices that will make neighbors applaud your wonderful style
